A Letter from DSWC Founders, Heather & Trisha

Hello! We are Heather & Trisha, the co-founders of Dalliance. We are thrilled to be kicking off our inaugural edition of Pleasure Perspectives, the monthly newsletter from Dalliance Sexual Wellness Collective. Our vision when we founded Dalliance Sexual Wellness was to create a sexual wellness practice that prioritizes pleasure over performance. Dalliance views sexuality as being an inherent, essential and beneficial dimension of being human and values the connection between vulnerable conversation and physical exploration. As therapists and healers, we believe our role is to help clients explore healthy sexual attitudes and values to create lives full of connection and pleasure.

What We Value:

Play – “If you can’t talk about it, you shouldn’t be doing it”. We encourage transparent and authentic communication around sex and in relationships. We believe this communication should be fun, light-hearted and explorative to reduce fear around talking about sex and pleasure. We help clients bring playfulness and fun into their sexuality.

Curiosity – Statements start arguments; questions start conversations. We believe the client is the expert on them, and we genuinely want to know as much about our clients as possible so we can help facilitate exploration of their lives and relationships.

Pleasure – We believe sex is about connection and pleasure, rather than intercourse and orgasm. There is so much focus with sex on whether or not people desire it, but too little focus on whether or not people are enjoying the sex they have. We make pleasure the center of sexuality and experiences to reduce the pressure people feel to fit into a certain idea of what good sex is.

Integrative Care – Sex and sexuality are made up of experiences that connect mind, body and spirit. We use a systems approach of therapy which integrates biological/psychological/social/relationship perspectives for each person.

Collaborative – We work with our clients to identify challenges and areas of improvement in their sexual lives and relationships and encourage open, discussion-based exploration to help clients achieve their goals. We consult with other professionals when appropriate, and recommend a combination of holistic and alternative/complementary therapies and treatments that can all work together to treat our clients.

Integrity-Led – Our clinicians receive extensive training in the field of sexuality, including education and supervision. They have explored their own sexual attitudes, beliefs and blind spots and are equipped to support clients with compassion, transparency, trust and non-judgment.
