This April, we are finding more PLAY at Dalliance
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we get immersed in work and family obligations, which leaves little room for pure, unadulterated pleasure and enjoyment. Somewhere along the journey from childhood to adulthood, many of us have abandoned the concept of play. Even when we manage to set aside leisure time, it’s often spent passively in front of screens rather than actively engaging in revitalizing play, as we once did in our youth. However, play isn’t solely crucial for children; it holds significant potential as a source of relaxation and stimulation for adults too.
While numerous studies have found that married people or those in intimate relationships are happier, and that laughter and play between partners is a key factor in overall relationship well-being, there has been little research on how play can increase intimacy and connection in relationships. Dalliance Sexual Wellness is working to change that – we are finding new and creative ways to work with our clients to find more play in their lives, leading to better connection and closeness with intimate partners.
Adult play is essential for several reasons, encompassing physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Play has been shown to reduce stress levels in adults. Engaging in enjoyable activities can lower cortisol levels, which helps alleviate stress and promote relaxation.
Play stimulates the brain and encourages creativity. When adults engage in playful activities, they are more likely to think outside the box, come up with innovative solutions, and approach problems with a fresh perspective, which can aid in better connection, communication and conflict repair with couples..
Play encourages imagination and exploration. By engaging in imaginative play, adults can escape from the stresses of everyday life, tap into their creativity, and rediscover a sense of wonder and curiosity within themselves and with each other. In addition, playful activities trigger the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. This can elevate mood, reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, and promote overall emotional well-being. These playful interactions can strengthen bonds between partners. Sharing laughter and joy through play creates positive memories and fosters a sense of connection and intimacy.
Lastly, incorporating play into one’s life helps maintain a balanced lifestyle. By making time for enjoyable activities, adults can prevent burnout, maintain perspective, and cultivate a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

A Letter from DSWC Founders, Heather & Trisha
Welcome back! We are thrilled to have you join us on this journey of discovery and exploration into the multifaceted world of sexual play. At Dalliance Sexual Wellness Collective, we believe in fostering open dialogue and providing valuable insights that promote understanding, pleasure, intimacy, & fun!
In this edition, we’re diving headfirst into a subject that is often overlooked or shrouded in stigma: the importance of sexual play. We cannot overlook its pivotal role in enhancing relationships, fostering self-awareness, and promoting overall well-being. Sexual play encompasses a wide spectrum of activities and experiences that go way beyond the physical act of sex. It encompasses everything from flirtation and sensual touch to fantasy exploration and experimentation.
So why is sexuality and play so important?
First and foremost, it’s essential for our overall well-being. Just as physical exercise is vital for maintaining a healthy body, sexual play is essential for nurturing a fulfilling and satisfying sexual life. Engaging in playful exploration can help us understand our bodies better, discover what brings us pleasure, and enhance our overall sexual satisfaction.
Moreover, sexual play ignites passion and excitement, adding novelty and spontaneity into intimate encounters. When we step outside of our comfort zones and embrace our playfulness, we unlock new possibilities for pleasure and exploration, enriching our sexual experiences and deepening our connection with ourselves and our partners.
However, it’s essential to acknowledge that sexual play looks different for everyone. What works for one person or couple may not work for another. The key is to approach sexual play with an open mind, free from judgment, and to prioritize mutual pleasure and consent.
In this newsletter, you can expect thought-provoking resources, expert insights, and practical tips to inspire you on your journey towards a more playful and fulfilling sex life. Whether you’re looking to spice up your relationship, explore new fantasies, or simply deepen your understanding of human sexuality, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
We’re excited to have you following along as we navigate this fascinating and important topic together.
With warm regards,
